With the Carmen premiere just two days away, press coverage on Sally’s production has now begun.
The Telegraph spoke in depth to ENO Music Director, Edward Gardner, about the upcoming season – which opens with Carmen. Times correspondent Geoff Brown gave an overview of the production in an interview with Sally on Friday 21 September, closely followed on Saturday 22 September by the Financial Times preview ‘When Sally Met Bizet’. Sally wrote her own account of her journey on Carmen, from concept to production, in The Guardian, Tuesday 25 September; accompanied by a mention from Guardian Arts blogger Andrew Clements in his ENO season roundup. On Wednesday 26 September, Time Out’s history of those leading ladies who’ve played the opera’s eponymous heroine, was an intriguing addition to the mix. Michael Church's short interview piece with Sally came out today (Thursday 27 September)
In Radio 4’s Midweek with Libby Purves on Wednesday 26 September, Sally discussed her efforts to return to the true roots of Bizet’s opera – see her blog about the Midweek experience. On Thursday 27 September at 5.15pm Sally appears on Radio 3’s In Tune with her Don Jose, Julian Gavin.
And finally, look out for Telegraph TV’s broadcast either late Sunday or early Monday.
