Dear Sally, firstly thank you for an amazing talk at BFI recently. I would like to ask whether you think as a young emerging film-maker today, is taking an educational course - going to university to study film and cinematography - more beneficial to a career in directing films. Or will working and a hands on experience within the industry be more vital to getting technical ability and experience in the working of a film.
Also I was wondering if you could recommend a good quality camera with which i will use to make short films. I currently borrow a small sony HDR from my college but have collected a reasonable amount of money to purchase a professional quality camera.
