Dear Sally Potter
I worked with you on your film ‘The London Story’ in the 1980’s and attended one of your workshops in London around the same time. I learnt a great deal from both experiences.
For the last 10 years I have been living and working in SW France, in the Tarn and about an hour from Toulouse.
I have been working for a charity, which I helped, set up in 1986.
The project, at which I am currently based and have been looking after, is set in an old medieval Templar Hamlet. At the heart of the site are a series of caves and in particular a prehistoric cave holding 3 exceptional engravings of the human form (very rare in prehistoric art) plus a bison and a horse dating back 26,000 years.
The site is called La Magdaleine des Albis, Tarn and if you google this name you should find some images, although they do not translate very well.
Unfortunately I am due to leave the project in the near future yet I wondered if you would like to visit the caves and site before I do.
I have followed your work over the years and my interest in film and representation has remained a strong. I am currently working on drawing and painting.
A few years ago now Tilda Swinton visited anther project that I had run up in Orkney, Scotland called Woodwick House. All the Potter and Jarman films stored in the library apparently, astounded her. Unfortunately I was not there at the time to meet her in person, which was a shame.
I am not really sure why I am contacting you other than it has often crossed my mind to be in touch with you again and it has felt like it would be a good idea.
I really hope to hear from you,
With very best wishes
Ann
