Another amazingly daring film concept from Sally... okay let's just count the innovations apparent from just these few blogs and snippets.... a film created from the POV of a child's cellphone, stripping away every cinematic tool known to condense pacing and enhance performance... the shear lack of detail on a phone, which I assume is shot at higher res and degraded to simulate a phone, cannot wait to see this technically and hear of workflow... and perhaps all shot from adult waist level to boot? INTERESTING.
Sound design of same with much action offscreen... so how will music be used, as natural to the scenes? Do we hear the fumbling of hand on the phone and muttering of child shooting? The possibilities are endless and so very difficult to achieve with no template from prior films in existence... again how DARING!
And the Jude Law casting, a Hollywood beauty in a piece about beauty and femininity and commerce, the layers pile up here. Fascinating. The still photos look incredible, actors must just jump at the chance to work on projects like this, which of course there are no others.
And the final area of intrigue, how this film intertwines and lifts off from the idea presented in TANGO LESSON, so that perhaps there is some building of concept from film to film, that each film is not a discrete creation, but a point on a curve, the arc of Sally Potter's filmmaking.
I am a fan! Wishing so to be in Berlin. Bravo once again!
