I caught this movie on TV one night and really loved its passion and colour. One thing bugged me though -- there were a few scenes where characters spoke in languages that weren't subtitled. For example, Johnny Depp's character says something in Roma, I think, to Christina Ricci's character by the fire that seems important [and is very sexy] but isn't translated. Was that a deliberate decision? And with the Yiddish as well?
Also, I'd like to know more about the operas that you chose for the film. I don't know much about opera and was wondering whether the plots or songs (arias?) were significant, or resonated with the story of The Man Who Cried in some way... It feels, again, like there's a lot of important information to see and hear, if you know how...
