It has been a while since my last blog. The main reason is that all my attention has been going into setting up my new film, which is now one-third in the metaphorical can…(it being a digital adventure).
The film is called RAGE. It started out many years ago as a screenplay that morphed into snippets of an imaginary and rejected film in THE TANGO LESSON. I thought that was the end of the idea, but it wouldn’t let me go. Last winter, sitting in a little caravan in snowbound France, shivering, wrapped in rugs and staring at the mountains in the distance to clean my mind in between rushes of rewriting, the film finally found its form. It now scarcely resembles its previous incarnations.
The last nine weeks have been spent in New York making it all happen. I am so glad I waited until the moment was right. It promises to be a very much more interesting film than it would have been when I first dreamed it up.
There are two thirds of the script yet to shoot and all of postproduction to find out what the film really is…but I am in its thrall, I want only to be with my beloved actors as they so delicately and powerfully manifest the words on the page and bring them to the light.

I have just sat captivated by your wonderful film ~ The Tango Lesson. Your use of monochrome allowed the colourful subject to be painted as a portrait of passion in both the dance and characters within the story.
Brilliantly done and I wait impatiently for your next work!
I've been watching the Tango Lesson over the last couple of weeks - I think I'm on my 4th viewing now. I keep dipping into it when I have time. It's an oustanding piece of work on many levels. I feel like I've actually lived it as an experience, rather than watching a movie.
Dear Sally,
I recently watched YES and, as always after seeing one of your films, was left with a strange, gnawing emotional mix --a combination of longing and sadness and unmistakable joy.
This movie, of course, resonates with these emotions. It is, to my mind, a pretty flawless piece of work. The actors are perfectly cast, the direction is spot on, cinematography, editing and production values impeccable. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making movies that are both beautiful and thought provoking.
Will you be speaking in NYC anytime soon?
Jo
Hi Sally,
It's been a while since we last saw each other in France at the Abroad Writers' Conference but I'm always checking out your site.
Yesterday, I read about your new film in VARIETY, and I had to congratulate you. I'm so happy for you!! It sounds fantastic and you have a wonderful cast to work with. I'm sure in your hands this film will turn into another classic, a gem we will all cherish.
I think about you often and I wish for another time you could share your thoughts and inspiration to others at one of our conferences in France or maybe in Kerala, India.
I'll be in London this summer if you have time, I would love to see you.
Love,
Nancy
I am thrilled that a new project is in the works. Your work is so inspiring and beautiful (I own and has watched "The Tango Lesson" more times than I can count. - do you still tango?
"Yes" is wonderful as well) Can't wait for the next one.

quite complicated entry, still with the wind coming from the north, i remain like a frozen scavenger.
Amazing to see the creative cycle begin again! I was always curious about that film idea and LOVED the imagery, all in color as I recall within TANGO LESSON. Wondering if anything from those images & ideas will remain? And LOVED the spot on Hollywood rejection scene, now working in digital, that can be bypassed I imagine, would there have been any truth in it beyond the great writing.
BRAVO again to you Sally. Can't wait to hear more!
